In his later years, Claude Monet became fascinated with a water lily pond and used it as a subject until his death. Which style of modern art do Monet's water lily pond paintings best represent?

Well Claude Monet was definitely know for his work in impressionism. For one, he painted the lilies as well as all else with swift dabs of paint, if you look closely the dabs do not combine to make a different color, they are simply dabs of paint very close to each other. Also during those days art had a great meaning, whether it was potraiture to praise a person, realism to show the reality of the world whether good or bad(usually bad) etc. However impressionist were usually only trying to capture regular everyday scenes that didnt have some sort of hidden message or something, it was art for arts sake. Also, impressionist usually tried to capture swift instances instead of full motion or buissyness. Sure they could paint a person in motion but only a specific movement or point in time, they didnt manipulate the surroundings and the clothes to show that he a person was going to keep fallen, rather they would do something like draw the clothes in a ragged form but not wavy in the air and in mid fold. Impressionism wanted to capture what made all things visible to us and that is Light, that is why most paintings are blurry and the color dabs are not combimed to create a solid picture, instead they show the very first thing a person would see in an instant and that is the vibrant colors. Claude monet definetly inspires emotion though the beauty of the lilies where the livid presence of the colors far out wieghs the specific shapes and forms, they are scenes of nature not of political statements or of personal wealth.
