David is _______ than his brother Thomas. gentlemanlier more gentlemanly gentlemanliest most gentlemanly ????????????

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

more gentlemanly

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

gentlemanlier isn't a word so A and C would be eliminated and B makes the most sense for that sentence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're only comparing two things so you would only use the adjective related as "more" instead of "most". You only use adjectives that refer to "least" or "most" instead of "less" or "more" when you're comparing three or more different things. This means that "gentlemanliest" and "most gentlemanly" are improper grammar. As stated before, "gentlemanlier" is not even a word, so "more gentlemanly" is your answer

More gentalmanly 😋
