How do children’s needs change as they grow through development stages from infancy to teen years?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as a child all you want is food icecream toys and junk as a teen you want weed cars and stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do special needs children differ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they dont/ special needs kids would differ by wanting their parents more. and not getting out as much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is actually really hard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when they are young what matters is what they need and as they get older its precautionary stage about what he/she does

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as a child, you depend on you parents for food, clothing and shelter. as you grow to be a teen, you become more independent and can feed and clothe yourself (given you are provided food and clothing). when you finally leave home you no longer rely on some one for food, clothes or shelter, you provide for yourself. so as you get older, you progressively become more independent and self reliable.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Is this a psychology or sociology question? It does not seem to be a history question. If it is in one of those fields, there are some theories on stages of development that may apply.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I am going to give you an example of why your question is too broad. It can't be answered just like this, you know ... (?) I am a Jewish guy. I moved from Russia to US in 6th grade and now know 3 languages, Hebrew English and Russian. This were period when I didn't have friends and this period was this very age that you are talking about. (it was when all my friends in Russia were gone (so to speak) but fortunately, I have friends in US, and other countries right now... :) All people need different things, and different things for different people can be another step towards being a self sufficient person.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Solomon, it is not too broad. It is regularly studied. For example, here is Erikson’s theories on it. http://www.simplypsychology.org/Erik-Erikson.html

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Well, if taking an average child then you are correct. But when it comes to approaching each child individually... I am not a specialist, but ....

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, with this being an educational site, I tend to assume the questions here are from standard fields of study the majority of the time.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes, right.... I just tried to sound philosophical (sometimes I have that type of mood)
