How do I determine if a graph is functional?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure what a 'functional' graph is, but I would assume it serves some sort of purpose?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Please post a little more info ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that was enough info, but I'm just confused with the term 'functional'.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Well, at first, you would need a graph, but in general a function just means that for one x value, there will be only 1 value, and not more. You however can have a y-value with 2 or more x-values that correspond to it, for it to be a function. (The wording is a little off, but you get an idea) I am assuming you are referring to determining if the graph is a function or not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a great way to put it.

Solomon, yes you are on the right path. Is there a way for me to draw the graph lines on here so you can see what the actual question is asking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can, use the draw button.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes, you can draw, or you ca just use an online graphing calculator, and post the link min here. https://www.desmos.com/calculator graph you function in there, save the link *(you would need to sign up, for that you need email and password not more than that... then save it and post the link after saving).
