Why did the Cold War start? At the end of World War II, the Soviet Union and the United States competed for global influence and power. At the start of World War II, Hitler's pact with Stalin forced the United States to attack the Soviets before they joined the Allies. At the end of World War II, Stalin believed that the United States and other western democracies were preparing to attack. At the end of the Korean War, the Soviet Union believed the United States had successfully stopped the spread of communism in Asia. --Help please I can't figure this one out.
I'd go with the first option -- that the Soviet Union and the United States competed for global influence and power. That's what the Cold War would be all about. After WW2, both of those nations were essentially the only ones left standing with the biggest stakes. Europe was in ruins along with Japan. England was nearly bankrupt because the war had drained them nearly into oblivion.
It is one because the both soviet union and the united states became super powers after the war (aka most powerful) and both were trying to beat the other in competitions such as the space race and with this they both built nuclear weapons and they were both equally dangerous and both countries would be in turmoil if they went to war which is why they never did.
