The vertices of a figure are labeled clockwise A(–4, 2), B(2, 4), C(7, 1), and D(–5, –3). How could you show that the figure is a trapezoid?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm did you plot the points already?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

does the shape look like a trapezoid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it does

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well it looks like |dw:1404080628733:dw| so recall that a trapezoid has 2 parallel sides, the so-called "bases"

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

|dw:1404080703715:dw| and that can only happen if AB and CD have the same slope so check the slopes of AB and CD, if they're the same, then AB and CD are parallel AB || CD and thus the shape is a trapezoid
