4x+2 Try to factor 4x+2 by finding its GCF... First, look at the all of the coefficients and constants, in particular, the:4, and 2. The GCF of these numbers is 2. Now, try to find the GCF of the variables. It will be a term containing variables with the largest exponentsthat will evenly divide out of each term. The GCF for the variables is 1, meaning no variables can be evenly factored out of this polynomial. Now, try to find the GCF of any functions (like sin or cos). This polynomial does not contain any functions that can be factored out. So, to total GCF to be factored out of this polynomial is just the constant 2 To divide x by 1 The x just gets copied along in the numerator. The answer is x Here is the polynomial in final factored form: 4x+2 =( 2 )( 2x+1 )
