I'm confused here. Umm.. Is 5/√2 is an irrational number?? because I'm very sure that √2, √3 and pi are irrational. But this is kinda confusing

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Yes √2 is irrational indeed. So multiplying (or dividing) a rational number by an irrational will still be irrational.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kirbykirby so |dw:1404272033466:dw| is an irrational number??

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

yes

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

:)

OpenStudy (phi):

if you multiply or divided by an irrational number , you will most often end up with a new irrational number sometimes you won't: example, sqr(2)/sqr(2) = 1 or sqr(2)*sqr(2) = 2 but unless the answer is obviously not irrational, it will be irrational
