the pythagoras theorem can be written as the equation:
a² + b² = c²
when you're looking at a problem, 'c' will always be the longest side of the triangle and 'a' and 'b' will be the other two sides.
the longest side of the triangle is called a ' hypotenuse'
OpenStudy (jgirl128):
this is what it would look like
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok
OpenStudy (jgirl128):
could you try solving this yourself or do you want me to go through it with you?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ill see if i can do it

use the equation a² + b² = c²
OpenStudy (jgirl128):
I'm sure you know that, I'm just reminding you
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is it 169?
OpenStudy (jgirl128):
it is, but that's not the final answer. you have to find the square root of 169 and that will be your answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok so it is 13
