How do you do the pythagorean therom @jgirl128

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

the pythagoras theorem can be written as the equation: a² + b² = c² when you're looking at a problem, 'c' will always be the longest side of the triangle and 'a' and 'b' will be the other two sides. the longest side of the triangle is called a ' hypotenuse'

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

this is what it would look like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

could you try solving this yourself or do you want me to go through it with you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill see if i can do it

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

use the equation a² + b² = c²

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

I'm sure you know that, I'm just reminding you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 169?

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

it is, but that's not the final answer. you have to find the square root of 169 and that will be your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok so it is 13

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

yup! c = 13

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

good job! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh its easier than i thought it would be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

do you understand the pythagorean theorem now?

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

good :) glad I could help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (jgirl128):

no problem, have a great day! :)
