|3x-6|=15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you understand absolute value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-3,7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's just like distance. there are no negative distances, just different directions. 100 miles north is the same distance as 100 miles south, their just in different directions, right? absolute value is the same thing. so when |x|=3 think what numbers are 3 away from 0... do you know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"they're"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks I figured it out (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-3,7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that an interval?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or a point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a point I would think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would you mind helping me on my other problem I posted ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, no.... you should have 2 values for x that satisfy the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then it's an interval

OpenStudy (anonymous):

negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

either way , it was the right answer lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

{-3, 7} would be the correct way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the brackets denote a set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was just trying to type it in quick so I just did parenthesis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no worries
