48/36?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f Your fraction is backwards

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Not really. To make the 3/4 kg into 1 kg you need to multiply 3/4 by 4/3. So do the same to find the solution: \[\frac{9}{16}\times\frac{4}{3}=you\ can\ calculate\]

OpenStudy (mindblast3r):

How did you find this out @kropot72 ?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

I reasoned that, whatever fraction that I need to multiply 3/4 kg by to make it 1 kg, then that same fraction would be needed to multiply the fraction of the pail taken up by 3/4 kg to find the fraction of the pail taken up by 1 kg. So it is a proportionality question.
