Organize the following polynomial expressions from least to greatest based on their degree: x + 2xyz 9x3y2 18x2 + 5ab - 6y 4x4 + 3x2 - x - 4 A.III, I, IV, II B.IV, I, II, III C.III, II, IV, I D.IV, III, I, II

OpenStudy (tiffanymak1996):

hint: the degree of a polynomial is the greatest power of the variables.

OpenStudy (tiffanymak1996):

so for the 1st polynomial: the degree is 1, the second is 3 and so on.

OpenStudy (tiffanymak1996):

Does this help you a bit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (tiffanymak1996):

You'd notice that in the second polynomial, x is to the power of 3, and y is to the power of 2. Since numerically 3 is larger than 2, the degree of that poly is 3.
