OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is interval notation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x, y z)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interval notation is a method of writing down a set of numbers. -Google

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it tells you from where to where in a number line or cartesian system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2, 6) means six units in the x coordinate and 6 units in the y coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(0, 9, -5) means zero in the x coordinate nine in the y coordinate and -5 in the z coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the brackets and parentheses will have more meaning as you will advance in math

OpenStudy (amistre64):

interval notation is not point notation

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(2,6) in interval notation means that the interval involved is between 2 and 6, but not including 2 or 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not done yet...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like I said these parentheses and brackets will have more meaning as he/she advances in math :(

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the question is about interval notation , not what a paranthesis is for :/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you ar eleading up to interval notation ... then by all means, i just find it a bit odd to have to go thru the history of bracket uses :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know........................... I didn't know what the person knows so I was starting off with that
