A student wonders whether removing the nucleus from a cell would result in a new prokaryotic cell. Why would this procedure fail to produce a prokaryotic cell? A) The cell would lack genetic information. B) The cell would lack the structure that is needed to produce proteins. C) The cell would lack the structure that is needed to protect the cell’s organelles. D) The cell would lack control over materials that move into and out of the cell.
think about what's in the nucleus, and that will be your answer. :-)
i tried i dont understand it
you could start by telling me what's in the nucleus
the number of protons in the nucleus determines the atom's atomic number and its position in the periodic table.
well, that's a definition of the atomic nucleus, that's correct. but we're not talking about the nucleus of an atom, but the nucleus of a cell. :-) the cellular nucleus is also a special place. you see, the cell needs to protect some things more than others. and the nucleus is not only surrounded by one, but two! membranes. so whatever is in there, needs special protection. what could it be? what is, in your opinion, the most protectable thing of the 4 possible answers? |dw:1404336351686:dw|
