If f(x) = 2x − 4 and g(x) = x2 − 4x, find g(-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you supposed to find g(f(-3))? or just g(-3)? Because if you are trying to find g(-3) then having f(x) would not help you. What you would do for g(-3) would just be plug -3 into all the x values in g(x) = x2 − 4x and then simplify.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Replace the x in the g function with -3 and you're good to go!

OpenStudy (triciaal):

Are you sure the question is correct? what is the purpose of f(x) to solve as written for g(-3) in g(x) replace x with -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would -2 be the answer?

geerky42 (geerky42):

No.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am assuming your equation is squared and not multiplied by 2, so you just plug in -3 like so: and then do the math and get your answer. but no not -2 g(-3) = (-3)^2 - 4 * (-3)
