Sperm cell is the smallest cell in the human body.
Granule Cell of the Cerebellum
Nerve cell is the longest.
@studystagram i think human granule cells are the smallest neurons.
yup it's sperm cells.
The smallest cell in the body is the sperm cell.
But that's if it is a male body. Other than that it would be a red blood cell. Is this correct @Abhisar
@gabebro13 In HUMANS sperm cell is the smallest and Ovum is the largest. In Females platelets or thrombocytes are the smallest.
So no matter what, we should always count sperm as the smallest? @Abhisar
yes, if someone asks u the smallest cell in Human Beings it would be sperm cells because male and female are both human beings. They are not different species.
getting my points ?
@Gabebro13 ?
Okay, yeah. That makes sense. I always thought it should be considered the blood cell since only males have sperm. But yeah I guess you learn something new everyday. Thanks @Abhisar !!
Blood cells are larger than platelets or thrombocytes. So even after sperm cells, platelets are the smallest.
Oh. Then my old biology teacher should be fired...

No latex. Can't see it
@Abhisar If you are a absolute slave to phylogenetic species concepts you could make the argument that males and females are different species.
Course, it makes no sense. I follow the phylogenetic species concept because the biological species concept just does not work in fungi.
No i am not, actually every individual is a female !
or better say that derived from female !
Only to a point
More destined unless told otherwise.
yep !
We are a sort of variants of females ! :D
You can even have XY that are still female. Oh, @Gabebro13 Some nerve cells in the brain are smaller than blood cells as well.
This just got complicated o.O
@mrdoldum like ??
Yep, that is why men have nipples and have a clear line where what would have been a vaginal opening fused together.
Like?? What, the cells?
perineum
yes the nerve cells
which are smaller than platellets
*platelets.
No, red blood cells. But now that I say that I think they are about the same size.
Hmm..!
Granule cells I think it is. They may be longer etc, but I believe they have much less mass. For instance, the axon can be around 15um long, but only ~.5 um wide
yes they are longer than RBCs. Much longer !
Okay, this got weird. Imma go now...
Really depends on who you want to measure something. Dimensions or mass.
Even RBC are 5-6 \(\mu\) in diameter.
and they are much lighter than granule cells.
Are you sure, I thought they could be 10 um.
But overall if u talk about the size, Granule cells appear larger.
Yes i am sure, there can be RBCs upto 8\(\mu\) but on an average its 5-6
Larger because of their length.
egg cells are so large that unfertilized you can see them with the naked eye. In fact egg cells are the largest of all cells. Here is another record in the cells. Skin cells can divide as many as 60 times a day which is more than enough to cover a square kilometer
and platelets are cell fragments from megakaryocytes, not cells themselves
