To rotate any point (x,y) about the origin 90 degrees counterclockwise, you just swap the x and y coordinates. Then make the new x coordinate negative So the rule is (x,y) ---> (-y, x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

E is -4, 8 F is -7, 5 so now does -4 become positive 4 and -7 becomes positive 8? @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait do you mean it becomes -8, -4 and -5, -7 ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

E = (-4,8) swap the coordinates to get (8,-4) then change that 8 to -8 so E = (-4,8) turns into E ' = (-8, -4) yep

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

(-5,-7) is correct for the other point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-do you mind if I ask a few more?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
