Solve this system of equations. Write your answer as an ordered pair. 5x + 4y = -14 3x + 6y = 6

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Although y ou could solve this system by graphing, or by substitution, I believe the most straightforward way is to use elimination by addition / subtraction. Please multiply all terms of the first equation by 3. Then multiply all terms of the second equation by -2. Add the resulting two equations together. What do you observe happening when you do this? can you now find the value of x? If so, how would you find the value of y?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Think: why multiply the first equation by 3? Why multiply the second equation by -2?

i got it right, thank you :)

I'm glad. Congrats!
