I think i got that wrong answer... Integrating with e

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hartnn (hartnn):

\(\Large u = e^x+e^{-x}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got \[-2/(e^x+e^{-x}) +C\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes i used that u, but Im checking my answer against my calculator by the definite integral from 0 to 2, and comparing that to x=2 in my answer and im getting different numbers

hartnn (hartnn):

what you got is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you convince me?

hartnn (hartnn):

0.734 did you get this or your calculator got this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My calculator got that for the integral, but when i plugged in 2 to my answer i got -.266

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could be a problem with C

hartnn (hartnn):

just 2 ? didn't you plug in 0 too ?

hartnn (hartnn):

−2/(e^2+e−2) - −2/(1+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean plug in x=0 to −2/(ex+e−x)+C to find C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just typed in the integral on my ti-84 from 0 to 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which yields 0.734
