OpenStudy (driftracer305):

can i get help with restrictions on this variable of equation :- (x^2-12/x^2+5x+6) / (x^2+5x+4 / x^2-2x-8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll give it a shot if no one else helps and if you remind me what restrictions are

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

when denominator can equal 0...........

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

which values give denominator equal 0.....?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X^2+5x+6=0 Is one of three expressions we will have to solve to find out the divide by zeros. Can you spot the remaining 2 expressions?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

x^2+5x+4 and x^2-2x-8.........??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If we replace each expression with a b c and d, like this, (a/b)/(c/d) Do you see how b, c and d would all need to be checked for divide by zero?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

so will it be -4, -3, -2, -1......??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct! Now set each of those 3 expressions equal to zero and solve for x

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

does this set also include 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is what I get for each of the three expressions, starring with the one the spot of 'b' -2, -3 -1, -4 4, -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! Good job

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

k thx a lot for the help dude.......... @demolisionWolf....
