WHY PLANT CELLS DO NOT HAVE CENTRIOLES?

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

BECAUSE THEY DONT

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

jks centrioles are very important in the cell division process..........Centrioles form spindle fibers to separate chromosomes during cell division

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Plant cells do not have centrioles but they have MTOCs(Microtubule Organizing Centres) scattered in their cytosol which serves the same purpose during cell division.... As to why they don't have centrioles...it may be due to deviation of ancestry very long ago and both type of cells have evolved independently...can't really find an explanation to that
