Slope Formula:\[m = \frac{ y_2-y_1 }{ x_2-x_1 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):
The (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) represent the end points of the line you are using.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
For example if I want the slope of line AT then I would use points A(x1,y1) = (-7,0) and T(x2,y2) = (9,-7)
OpenStudy (daisy.xoxo619):
ok i understand that, how would I find the slope of C(4,5) to set AT(?,?) ?

@Miracrown
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
use below : slopes of perpendicular lines are opposite reciprocals
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
if slope of AT is \(m\), then slope of that altitude will be \(-\dfrac{1}{m}\)

so, you can simply find the slope of AT
then flip it and put a negative sign
OpenStudy (daisy.xoxo619):
slope of AT= -7/16
slope altitude= 16/7 yes or no
@ganeshie8
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
Yes !
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
good job :)
OpenStudy (daisy.xoxo619):
thx. how would i do this:
2)find the slope of a line through C parallel to set AT

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
what do you know about the slopes of parallel lines ?
OpenStudy (daisy.xoxo619):
they have the same slope
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
so...
OpenStudy (daisy.xoxo619):
would it be the same -- -7/16?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
Correct !!

soo.. what about this:
3) find the slope of the median to set AT

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
find the coordinates of D and apply slope formula for CD
OpenStudy (daisy.xoxo619):
is it 2.8??
