I got this problem wrong while studying, I don't understand why? Could someone help me? A matrix contains 60 elements. Which of the following cannot equal the number of rows of the matrix? a. 30 b. 60 c. 10 d. 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wasn't sure so I put 60 but it told me the answer was 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A matrix will contain 60 elements if it has: 1 row and 60 columns 2 rows and 30 columns 3 rows and 20 columns ... 60 rows and 1 column See a pattern here?

My point is the the number of elements is the product of the number or rows and columns. In other words, this is a factoring problem. Which of the answer choices is not a factor of 60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh I got it, thanks just that part wasn't explained to me so was a bit thrown off by the question
