why was the rock of gibraltar an important territorial location

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

The Rock is Crown property of the United Kingdom, and borders Spain. The sovereignty of Gibraltar was transferred from Spain to the Kingdom of Great Britain by the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713 after the War of the Spanish Succession.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

it's pretty much a rock. there's nothing there. and it's pretty damn close to connecting Europe and Africa. so if you were a world leader what do you see in gibraltar. plus it's not any body of water it's kinda of a sea connected to another sea. so....

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, the answer he gave to your first question is wrong. However, the Rock of Gibraltar is the gateway to the Mediterranean sea. He who controls the Rock, controls the Mediterranean sea. The Rock of Gibraltar is not a significant source of natural resources, because like he said, its just a big rock.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

thats a conjecture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can use whichever answer you think is right, but I can tell you right now what the score for the question will be on both outcomes.
