OpenStudy (samsan9):

solve the equation (3x+2)(x-5)=0. What is the highest value?

OpenStudy (samsan9):

i think it is 5 but idk

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

5 and -2/3 are your only choices. Note: The question is not clear at all.

OpenStudy (samsan9):

well it says enter the solution with the highest value

OpenStudy (imstuck):

But 5 and -2/3 are the x intercepts, not the highest value of y.

OpenStudy (samsan9):

there are no answer choices its just a blank box :/ i have to put something there

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Like I said, the question, as presented, is ambiguous. "enter the solution with the highest value" NOW, we are talking about the solutions or zeros. "What is the highest value" This could mean what the other one meant OR it could be a reference to the function maximum, which doesn't exist.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Now that you have provided the correct problem statement, it is unambiguously 5.

OpenStudy (samsan9):

yeah my bad and so its just 5?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You tell me. Go with confidence.
