A triangle with A(4, 8), B(7, 5), and C(2, –1) is reflected over the x-axis. What are the new points? Select one: a. A(4, –8), B(7, –5), C(2, 1) b. A(–4, –8), B(–7, –5),C(–2, 1) c. A(–4, 8), B(–7, 5), C(–2, –1) d. A(–8, 4), B(–5, 7), C(1, 2)

OpenStudy (chriss):

If you reflect over the x axis, all of your x coordinates will remain the same while your y coordinates will change sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its C im srry am i correct

OpenStudy (chriss):

no. D reverses the position of the x and y coordinates and changes the sign of the former y coordinates. You want the choice where your x coordinates are exactly the same and your y coordinates have the opposite sign as the original triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its C im srry am i correct

OpenStudy (chriss):

In C, the x coordinates change signs and the y coordinates remain the same. That is the opposite of what you are looking for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so C is my answer?

OpenStudy (chriss):

C is not your answer In A, your x coordinates remain the same. The y coordinates change sign. That is what you are looking for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh srry i see what you mean its A right

OpenStudy (chriss):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnx can you help me on somore
