Why would you want a neuron to send inhibitory neurotransmitters?

Please ask this in the Biology, Health Sciences, Chemistry, or other related section. This is the mathematics section. On a side note, Neurons send inhibitory neurotransmitters to decrease the production and output of endorphin's and other biochemicals in the brain.

The opposite or release of excitatory neurotransmitters, do the opposite and encourage the production.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example. If you are producing too much Cortisol, a stress hormone, you would want your neurotransmitters to send inhibitory messages to slow down or stop this production if it was not being beneficial to the biological system in which it was being produced.
