Lets set each equation for: x = cat cost 2x = dog cost {dog supplies are twice as much as a cat} Got it?

$50 $40 $30 $60 $45

Yes. I have the answer. Are you with me so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um hm

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

164x + 24(2x) = 4240 {# of animals x cost per animal = total cost} 164x + 48x = 4240 {multiplied 24 by 2x} 212x = 4240 {combined like terms} x = 20 {divided both sides by 212} 2x = 40 {substituted 20, in for x, into 2x} Each dog will cost $40
