Okay. So. You have 2 squares, and 4 rectangles. The area of both these shapes is base times height. The square is 1x1, which equals 1. The rectangles are 3x1=3. Now, you take the area you got for both of the shapes, and you multiply it by how many shapes there are. Does this make sense?

So, because there are two squares, you multiply 1x2=2. There are 4 rectangles, so you multiply 3x4=12. Now, you add those together: 2+12=14. Now, does it make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A=2(wl+hl+hw) A=2(1x1+3x1+3x1) A=2(7) A=14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A=14ft^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@cutepochacco is this the surface area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's surface area, I should of wrote S.A. instead of A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just 14x^2 is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so your surface area or S.A.=14ft^2
