PLEASE HELP!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

What does it mean to you to "write a polynomial in standard form?"
I have no idea. This is a pre-assignment so my teacher can know what i already know about the subject
Then it's all right not to know. The idea is, as you point out, to assess where you currently are in your understanding of this material. Example of a polynomial in standard form: your powers of x are in descending order:\[y=ax^4+bx^3+cx^2+dx+e\]
...where x is the independent variable and a, b, c, d and e are constant coefficients.
oh okay, so what are a b and c supposed 2 be?
As I said, they are "constant coefficients." It's not your job to find or identify them. All you have to do is to determine whether any of the four given answer choices is in "standard form," assuming that x is your independent variable and y is either a constant or a variable.
but i still don't get what the answer is
@mathmale ?
Which of the four answer choices has all of its powers of x appearing in descending order?
A?
the eq that is written in asending or deseding order of variables involved...see that which one is..
since it goes 5, 3, 2?
If you're talking about powers of x, yes, that would be x^5, x^3, x^2, which IS in descending order of the independent variable, x. Good.
Thanks for your help! :)
My pleasure! Remember, this is a pre-test, and if you don't know a given topic, the pretest will alert your teacher, who will then have the responsibility of helping you to learn the relevant material.
Guess what @mathmale ? I just got 100% on that assignment!!!
