Hi! 1. Cell membranes consist of lipid bilayers, then how about the organelles who have single layer of membrane, such as the Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum? What do their membranes consist of? And what's special about the substances/mechanisms of their membranes? 2. Do ALL organelles with bilayer membranes employ lipid bilayers as do cell membranes? Thank you very much!
it's the same. all biomembranes are based on similar bilayer structure, otherwise there will be no protection from outsized environment, which in this case would be the cytosol
what give rise to different structures is the cytoskeleton. I will have to double check so I can provide you some sources.
Thx! So when we say double-layered membrane we're talking about two layers of membrane, each of which consisting of lipid bilayers, is that correct? (I learned most of these in Chinese which gave rise to several misunderstandings when I looked over the same content in English lol) Could you please explain a bit further #the different structures# you mensioned? Thank you very much!
