Find the value of the expressions -2x+xy and (2x-3)/y if x=-2 and y=3. VERIFY YOUR RESULTS USING A GRAPHING UTILITY.
@jim_thompson5910 @mathstudent55 @SolomonZelman
just plug in the given value into your expressions
What about the graphing?
This does not involve any graphing, just plugging in and calculating. \(\normalsize\color{blue}{ -2x+xy }\) (you know that `x=-2` and `y=3`, so therefore) \(\normalsize\color{blue}{ -2(-2)+(-2)(3) }\) I have plugged-2 for x, and 3 for y. can you finish this one off ?
Yes, -2, and I thought it didn't involve graphing but the problem asks for it. So there's nothing I can do to verify with graphing?
your expressions are not to graph, they are not a line function .. not even an equation-:( The only thing I can say, is to plug in the given values for x and for y, and calculate the expressions. Can't help more. ••••• Unless you wrote the question incorrectly.
It was written correctly. Understood. Thanks.
Maybe then you should talk to your teacher about it, because I feel really bad for just leaving you unanswered like this... -:(
It's ok. I tried contacting her and looking for other resources but I couldn't find anything. Thank you for trying.
