For the following questions, assume that the mRNA begins immediately to the right of the last A-T base pair in the promoter sequence and ends immediately to the left of the first G-C base pair in the terminator. i) What are the first 5 nucleotides of the mRNA sequence produced by this gene? Be sure to enter the sequence 5' to 3' from left to right using the one letter abbreviations for the bases.

It's okay, any help is appreciated, thanks for looking at it

ohh sorry im not good at this....

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

A C G U are the bases for mRNA. when a gene is transcribed. the strand that runs from 3" to 5" is transcribed. so the mRNA formed is exact complementary to the DNA strand and runs 5" to 3'. now wat u need to do is. pick up the first 5 bases of the strand immediately after the promoter that runs 3' to 5'. then write the complementary bases for those 5. and in place of T write a U. for complementary bases. A pairs with T(write U in case of RNA) and vice versa G pairs with C and vice versa

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh from 3' to 5'!!! I was doing it the other way around, silly me. Thanks :D
