I never used this site before and I need help with my algebra. Here's the question. Write a direct variation equation that relates x and y. Assume that y varies directly as x. Then solve. If y = 18 when x = 6, find x when y = –54.

alright so basically what you have to do is to find to constant, which means that when x varies such as when x increases, how much would y increase by? y varies directly as x so ----> y=kx where k=constant, simply substitute: 18=6k , so k =3 After that, put it back into the formula along with the new value of y to get x (basically: -54=3x) and you find x by dividing -54 by 3

Is -18 right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its y=3x;-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup :) i hope you understand it

Thank u!!
