can someone help me please, if you have read the poem called 'oranges' by gary soto

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will try if can remeber :) What do you need help on?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks um in the poem it says : "When i looked up , the lady's eyes met mine and held them, knowing very well what it was all about." Explain what the woman at the counter realizes about the speaker. How does she help him?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So where in the poem is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I actually found the poem So I think she understood that this boy does not have enough money, but he doesnt want to lose (some kind of) this girl. Or get embarrassed infront of the girl. By that means, she took it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright any more questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ooh and thanks for the medal! :)))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you welcome oh and yes i do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ManImStumped thanks for the medal!!!! :) you are so sweet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay :) go on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a question that says " How did the setting, character, and/or plot interact?" and also "what is the plot ( conflict/resolution)?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL I didn't give it on this question, but now I did. And you deserve it, so no sweetness on my part ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lol I typed on the wrong question sorry :(( and you are sweet :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its okay :) tht happens

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay the plot is the easiest to me. so that first :) conflict is that the boy id not have enough money for the chocolate, but he still wanted to buy it for her. resolution is that he put a cent and an orange for payment and this women took the penny (not the orange) and let him have the chocolate. .... I think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does this sound right? @ManImStumped

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Melodysim i think your answer can be right because i dont see any other conflicts i have already read the poem 4 times and dont find any other problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

setting/character/plot interaction. character. okay. So he is a 12 year old boy who is walking with a girl for the first time (and he is not so rich by the guess he doesnt have enough money for a chocolate) There is a girl who picked the too-expensive-chocolate and a lady who runs the store. setting is that this is the first time that boy ever walked with a girl. and he wants to buy something for her :) (but he got no moneyyyyyy) than the plot is that I typed before. So since it is the first time he is walking with a girl, he wants to buy something for her, and she picks up a chocolate that he cannot pay for. So he puts a penny and an orange that he had for the payment. The lady understood that he does not have enough money. She took the penny and let him keep the orange, and gave the chocolate to him (I guess just so he would not get embarrassed) Than the couple goes on for a date (I guess you could call it)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that's how it all works out...? :]]]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I actually thinks its adolescent angst and romance. The plot is that there is a boy trying to secure love and is determined, hence giving an orange, which is symbolic for love, determination, and growth/enligthment The setting and character are far more important. They explain the boy's feelings as warm and timid, against the weather which is cold and external.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much , i feel guilty now :( i just wanted to know if my inferences where somewhat similar to know if i was right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the genre romance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my gosh @jazelly_ I think you should cancel my medal and give it to @ManImStumped

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wanna give it to both but i cant cuz you bouth helped

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this boy just messeged me saying im pretty cute :0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The conflict is almost like a rite of passage into manhood. There is the male/female relationship and the second is self-confidence and trust

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And nah, @Melodysim deserves the medal :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The genre is probably sacrifice too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay @jazelly_ just undo my medal and give it to @ManImStumped

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
