A system of two linear equations is graphed below. Create a new equation by setting the left-hand side of the upper equation equal to the right-hand side of the lower equation. Graph the new equation below and enter the new equation in the box to the right. y=3x+3 2y=2/3x+12. Help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's a systems of equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If someone explain how to do it than I promise I would other once by myself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Setting the left-hand side of the upper equation equal to the right-hand side of the lower equation, we get y=2/3x+12 This is already in slope-intercept form, but the y-intercept of 12 is out of the range of the graph. To graph this equation, let's put it in point-slope form. We could do this by picking any x value and finding the corresponding point on the line. If we pick x=−6 and plug it into the equation, we see that the point (−6,8) lies on the line, and we can rewrite the equation in point-slope form. (y−8)= 2/3(x+6) The line goes through the point (−6,8) and has a slope of 2/3. The problem was I don't get how they solved it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to solve it.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

A) y=2x−1 B) 2y+x=3 Substituting A into B we get: 2 • (2x -1) +x = 3 4x -2 +x = 3 5x = 5 That video is weird and I have NO idea why it is even there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me too. I wish I can look up on youtube. The youtube don't have this kind problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is why I was on this website.

OpenStudy (paki):

did you tried the procedure of wolf...?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

paki - is that question meant for me?

OpenStudy (paki):

also your equations are wrong... the equations at the link provided are different...

OpenStudy (paki):

no, that for kk

OpenStudy (paki):

now it shows some other equations....

OpenStudy (paki):

brb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Who ever help me. I will best response to him.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no word

OpenStudy (paki):

i got x=1...

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

I have NO idea why this asks you to create a third equation. When solving simultaneous equations you need two DIFFERENT equations. If you have 2x + 3x = 7 you CANNOT solve it by multiplying it by by 2 or whatever other number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It said write a new equation. lol x=1 is new equation???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what they say substitution and elimination always produce equations consistent with the solution of the original system.

OpenStudy (paki):

hmm got it... let me solve now

OpenStudy (paki):

Setting the left-hand sides of these equations equal to each other, we get y = (2/3)x+12. this equation is now in slop intercept form....

A restaurant charges $11 for a buffet plus $2 for each drink. Another restaurant charges $14 for a buffet plus $1 for each drink. The system of equations is graphed below. Part 1: What is the solution? Part 2: Show your work to verify the solution for both equations pleasehelp me someone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that and I tired to solve.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

pinappleloveraries What are you doing posting that here?

OpenStudy (paki):

then,,,?

OpenStudy (paki):

that is the new equation.... now just plot the new line graph,,, and that's all...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help or i will fail please @wolf1728

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

pinappleloveraries - you should start a NEW question and not just interrupt another question

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

I'm leaving here - this question is just to strange.

OpenStudy (paki):

now please close this question... thank you..

OpenStudy (paki):

@wolf1728 are you rude...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(y−8)=2/3(x+6 What told the answer. And it is no solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still don't get how they got (y-8)=2/3(x+6) form?
