Can someone help me with this? Are the following figures similar? a) No; the corresponding sides are not proportional. b) Yes; the corresponding sides are proportional. c) Yes; the corresponding angles are proportional. d) No; the corresponding angles are not proportional.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no the corresponding sides aren't proportional

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like the numbers they don't equal each other

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

This is why we're here for:) To help out:) It's like pretty much asking, "Are the following sides proportional?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But aren't the angles proportional?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angles look proportional to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then couldn't it be A or C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say it's A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lyssfountain

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

@lyssfountain plug the proportions in like a fraction. Show us what you got:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What @YanaSidlinskiy ? Math clearly isn't my best subject, I literally have no clue how to do that

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ok. I'll show you:) Just give me a sec:)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

\[\frac{ 20 }{ 12 } = \frac{ 40 }{ 30 }\] Cross multiply. What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh i got 20x30+12x40, that doesn't sound right

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

What is 20*30? 12*40?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

This is how you find if the sides are proportional or not. What's confusing you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i meant 20x30=12x40 but 20x30=600 and 12x40=480

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Since those #'s don't match, your sides are NOT proportional:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay thank you (:

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

:) Welcome:)
