@JoannaBlackwelder
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
What did you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what I did was use the equatiom
OpenStudy (anonymous):
are of sector/ pir^2= measure of arc/360

and when I added everything in I got the answer 50.3=x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so after that I figured out the area of the triangle and It was 32.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So I subtracted 50.3-32 and got 18.3=area of shaded region
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but that's not one of my answer choices
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
That is what I get, but in a rounded form instead of exact.

yeah, so what is the equation asking???
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
For an exact form of your answer.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so what does that mean, I thought I did do it exact?
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
\[\frac{ 90 }{ 360 }\times64π\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh so they want the equation I used

Yes, it is perfect. Just don't round. Leave it in terms of π
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh okay so, Would I have to diide 90 by 360
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Right, or leave it in a fraction but simplified.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh okay, so my answer would be
64 pi=1/4
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Close, area of sector = 1/4*64pi

oh, okay so after this is this my answer
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Close. You still have to subtract the area of the triangle.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
which was 32.
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Right.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so It would be 1/4*32pi

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
1/4*64pi simplifies to 16pi
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
64/4=16
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then what would you do after that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so wait the answer would be 16pi-32 because you still have to subtract the 32
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Right. :)

oh gosh yes final thanks, when will you be on here till?
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Um, I'm not sure. Why?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I was just saying I might need help again later and you seem to be the only one who can explain this too me!
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Ok. Well, feel free to tag me and I'll help if I can. I also do private lessons if you need. Let me know. :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay thank you !
