given: \[\left[\begin{matrix}1-i & 1 \\ -2 & -1-i\end{matrix}\right]\left[\begin{matrix}x_1 \\ x_2\end{matrix}\right]=\left[\begin{matrix}0 \\ 0\end{matrix}\right]\] how do I solve for x_1 and x_2? I have the solution vector: \[\left[\begin{matrix}1-i \\ 2i\end{matrix}\right]\] I just need help figuring out how to get it.

Anybody? It seems harder than normal systems of equations...

@mathstudent55 @dumbcow Sorry to bother you guys but nobodys looked at this yet :(

I feel like its gotta be something simple, I just always seem to get an x_1 or x_2 on both sides and so I know Im making mistakes..

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

hmm det = 0 so inverse does not exist if you try to solve with substitution you get 0=0 yet the solution is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh, ok. Thats exactly what was happening to me. 0=0.
