Can someone please explain this equation: Y = a(x-h)2 +k. I need an equation for projectile motion and I need someone to clarify if that equation is right and maybe if your generous enough give an example. Thankyou

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the graph is in the shape of a parabola, then it could be thought of as projectile motion. like this. |dw:1407638655426:dw| im not sure where your getting the 2 on the (x-h)2 part.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it from this worksheet on my school laptop but thanks for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah i think the 2 is (x-h)^2 for (squared)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the standard form of quadratic equation. graph of this quadratic equation is parabola where (h,k) represent coordinate of vertex which is the minimum or maximum point of parabola. h is also axis of symmetry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain the Y = a(x-h)2 +k because i have a table of results from a object in the air and i have to put those results in that equation for my next question and i dont understand where to put them in that equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id start by finding the vertex and all the intercepts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks x
