ARea of the square= 8 -12x + 9 = 17 -12x Since the area of square = a * a Which is equal to: \[Area = 17 - 12x\] We know that: \[Area = (side)^2\] therefore length/side/a(whatever you call it): \[=\sqrt{17-12x}\]

But if you meant(I guess) this: \[4x^2-12x+9\] Then factorising it equals to: \[=4x^2-6x-6x+9 = 2x(2x -3) -3(2x -3)\] =\[(2x-3)(2x-3)\] Therfore according to the formula of the area of the square: \[A = (side)\] side/length/a(whatever you call it): = (2x-3)
