Let f(x) = 3x^2 + x - 3 and g(x) = x^2 - 5x + 1. Find f(x) - g(x). 2x^2 - 4x - 2 2x^2 - 4x - 4 2x^2 + 6x - 2 2x^2 + 6x - 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are subtracting f(x) and g(x) so basically combine like terms while subtracting \[(3x^2+x-3)-(x^2-5x+1)\] dont forget to distribute the negative into g(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x^2+6x−4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :) you got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you just took the two problems and combine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see, didn't pay attention to fx - gx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but read the question carefully find "f(x)-g(x)"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that negative would need to be distributed in g(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, thanks for the help!

you're welcome
