Describe and correct the error k + 5 = -2k k+5 k+3 k2 +8k+15 LCD= (k+3)(k+5) k(k+3)+5(k+5)=-2k k2 +3k+5k+25=-2k k2 +8k+25=-2k k2 +10k+25=0 (k+5)2 =0 k=-5

@Broskishelleh

OpenStudy (broskishelleh):

I don't see the original equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats the equation and there is an error in it that I have to describe and correct

OpenStudy (broskishelleh):

Well k = -5/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so everything else is right except that?

OpenStudy (broskishelleh):

nah i need to find the mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (broskishelleh):

@aballer101 Can I list the steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (broskishelleh):

Since −2k contains the variable to solve for, move it to the left-hand side of the equation by adding 2k to both sides. k+5+2k=0 Since k and 2k are like terms, add 2k to k to get 3k. 3k+5=0 Since 5 does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by subtracting 5 from both sides. 3k=−5 Divide each term in the equation by 3. k=−5/3
