All living things break down _________ to make energy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are your answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

carbon dioxide light fuel and water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they break down water

OpenStudy (aaronq):

chemical compounds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

macromolecules...eg : carbohydrates, proteins, lipids etc...carbondioxide and water can be by produts..but there are bacteria and yeast that uses Co2 as their sole source. And plants fix carbondioxide and synthesize energy and store it...and water can be lysed for electrons in non cyclic photophosphorylation to involve them in the electron transport for the synthesis of NADPH which is then used for biosynthesis.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

@kalp your answer is incomplete as you're leaving out bacteria and archaea (e.g. halophiles) that break down, or oxidize, inorganic compounds.
