The question is not clear. Can you post a screenshot of the question?

OpenStudy (aum):

Okay, you left out the 3x and the the (5x - 6) from the question. If A is the midpoint of XY then XA = AY. Equate the two expressions: 3x = 5x - 6 and solve for x first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ik that part but idk what to do after

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug it back in?

OpenStudy (aum):

put x back in the original expression and calculate XA. Then AY will be same as XA XY will be two times XA.

OpenStudy (aum):

Just to make sure, is the expression on the right 5x -6 or 5x - 8? It is cropped a bit to tell.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x-6

Just a bit of help pls :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do I just subtract?

OpenStudy (aum):

exactly same method as used in the previous problem. In the figure you can see that T is the midpoint of PQ because PQ is divided into four equal parts as indicated by the division marks and T is in the middle. Therefore, PT = TQ. In each case equate PT = TQ, solve for x. Then put x back in PT and calculate the length.

hey
