A bicycle store opened and sold 11 bikes on the first month. After a few months, the store owner calculates that bike sales have been growing at a rate of 3 bikes per month since opening. I need to write a function that relates the number of bicycles sold in a month to the number of months since the store opening.

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Let the number of month be t. Since it is growing at a rate of 3 bikes per month, the function should involve 3t. The function is f(t) = 3t+11

thats what i thought

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if the first month he got 11

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

My bad then, f(t) = 3t+8

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Or f(t) = 3(t-1) + 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that one makes sence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
