Why it is to say that sin x is an odd function while cos x is an even function ? Where does the odd and even came about ? @@

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$\Huge x^3, x^5,...$$ $$\Huge x^2, x^4,...$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean ?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

what is the definition of an even number?

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

@HatcrewS always remember:- \[\large \bf EVEN ~FUNCTION=Symmetric~about~its~axis\] or we can say that all values of f(x) is satisfied for all values of f(ix) So we called them as SYMMETRIC ABOUT ITS AXIS. example :- Cos (x) Graph of cosx:-

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

understood ? @HatcrewS

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

EVEN FUNCTION :-same value of +ve x for a function is satisfied for same -ve value of x for that function.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

hope you understand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

+ve image axis is same as -ve axis image

OpenStudy (anonymous):
