Greek and Romans - Anaximander of Miletus (c.610–546 BC) he pretty much hypothesized most of the ideas of evolution. That humans could have descendent from a type of animal. Erasmus Darwin -It's clear from the bloodline that he's related to Charles Darwin and was a big influence to him. He's the grandfather of Charles Darwin. He published Zoönomia in 1796. Thomas Robert Malthus -he first brought up the standardized theory of population, and gathered empirical data to support his theory. His work, "The Principal of population" published in 1798. Lamarck had a theory of his own, "Theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics" which was published in 1801. Then Charles Darwin came along, got influenced by these folks, and wrote his opinion down on "The Origin of Species) a well known book that explains natural selection and was published in 1859.
