I want to check that I got the right answer for this one. A radio transmission tower is 200 ft high. How long should a guy wire be if it is to be attached to the tower 10 ft from the top and is to make an angle of 69 degrees with the ground. I got about 495 as my answer which to me seems a bit too much.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well it is way to long... start by drawing a diagram... include your measurements

i see what i did now

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

I'd assume in a question like this the tower and guy anchor are on level ground

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. thank you. for my answer now, i have 203. 52 approximately. is that correct?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well its what I got... so we are both correct or both wrong... but it seems to make sense... its longer than the 190 on the tower...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could it be that instead of trying to find c, we are finding b in this? if we assign the 190 as a that is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im mostly just confused as to which segment im looking for XD

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well its asking for the length of the guy wire... which to me is the hypotenuse of the right triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, then ill go with the 203.52. Thank you again
