Given that MATH is a parallelogram, solve for c.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

c = x 86 = b-10 What else do we know? At least one more useful relationship.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Not good enough. You know nothing of quadrilaterals? How about the sum of exterior angles? Interior angles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sum of interior angles will = 180 and the sum of exterior angles will =360

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Very good, but not quite. Triangles sum interior angles to 180º. Quadrilaterals (like the parallelogram, for instance) sum to 360º. This is your third piece of information. 86 + c + x + (b-10) = 360 Use your three clues and solve for x, c, and b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would you subtract 86 and 10 from 360

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Subtract 86, yes. Add 10. c + x + b = 284 Remember the two clues from the beginning? c = x 86 = b-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 10 to 86 and get b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you would get c+x+96 subtract 96 and get c+x=188 divide it by 2 and get 94

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

b = 96 -- Good c + x + 96 = 284 c+x = 188 -- Good c=x 2c = 188 c = 94 x = 94 -- Good. Does it all work? Try it in the original picture.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes 94+94+86+86 adds to 360 proving interior angles theroem

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

There you have it. Good work. Remember this, "I have no idea"? That is not true. :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah just need that push tank you
